Whittier to Anchorage Tour & Transfer

Overview

Your guided, small-group transfer from Whittier to Anchorage kicks off with a convenient pickup at the cruise terminal. Be sure that you're ready at pickup time, you have a tunnel to catch! The tunnel out of Whittier is 2.5-miles long with just enough room for either a lane of traffic or the train. It's quite the engineering marvel to take in as your tour takes its turn leaving Whittier.

When you emerge on the other side it's a short drive to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This animal rehab center is home to some of Alaska's most beloved species, including moose, caribou, musk ox, wolves, and bears.

After your guided walkthrough of the conservation center you'll continue another half hour or so to Girdwood for lunch and a ride up the Mt. Alyeska tram. Your cruise transfer concludes with scenic drive along Turnagain Arm and drop-offs at the Anchorage airport or your area hotel.

The Whittier to Anchorage Tour & Transfer takes about six hours with a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, lunch in Girdwood, a ride up the Mt. Alyeska tram, and multiple stops for photos along the way. This small-group experience is fully narrated by a driver-guide. Transportation is by comfortable Sprinter van.

Please note, from about April 28 through May 18 this tour operates under a modified format due to seasonal closures at the Alyeska Tram.

What to Bring

Some of the tour is conducted outside, so wear layers and sturdy walking shoes. Be sure to keep your rain jacket and a hat on hand.

This excursion requires a moderate level of activity, with walks at the conservation center and to/from the Alyeska tram.
