How to get from Seward to Talkeetna
The Park Connection Motorcoach is the only daily scheduled transportation option from Seward to Talkeetna during the summer, and it is often the key in helping travelers make the most efficient use of their vacation time in Alaska.

Take the Bus
In order to travel to Talkeetna in the same day, you will need to take the morning departure of the Park Connection which departs Seward at 10:30 AM. An additional 9:45 AM departure is also available from the cruise ship dock on most ship days. Both trips have a 90-minute layover in Anchorage.
Ride the Train
Same-day service from Seward to Talkeetna is not available with the Alaska Railroad. An extra overnight is required in Anchorage, so most of our guests travel from Seward to Talkeetna on the Park Connection Motorcoach, then continue on to Denali Park and return to Anchorage by train.
Drive yourself
It is about 240 miles from Seward to Talkeetna, approximately the same distance from Anchorage to Denali Park. Plan on about five hours of actual driving, allowing ample additional time for extra stops and sightseeing. Consider Portage Glacier, Girdwood, and Anchorage as exciting pitstops. If you need to pick up a rental car in Seward, you can generally do so through Hertz, but you cannot drop off cars in Talkeetna. Check out the special on our Seward Car Rental page. Arriving by Cruise Ship
For those guests arriving on a Seward cruise from Vancouver, we offer a special Park Connection Motorcoach pickup directly at the cruise ship dock on most cruise ship days. For a great post-cruise tour, take this bus to Talkeetna for an overnight, continue on to Denali Park for a couple of nights, and then return to Anchorage by train.
