How to get from Denali to Whittier
It is almost 300 road miles from Denali Park to Whittier, so we generally recommend splitting the trip up with an overnight in Talkeetna. That said, if you are short on time and leaving on a Princess Cruise from Whittier, traveling all the way from Denali Park to Whittier in one day can be an efficient way to take a nice land tour prior to your cruise. The Park Connection is the best option for travel between Denali Park and Whittier, as scheduled same-day train service is not available. See below for some rental car suggestions as well.

Ride the Bus
The Park Connection Motorcoach is the only scheduled same-day transportation service from Denali Park to Whittier. We depart daily from most major hotels in the Denali Park entrance area at 7:00 AM and drop off right at the cruise dock in Whittier at about 5:00 PM. That time includes an hour or so lunch break in Anchorage.
Take the Train
As mentioned above, scheduled train service is not an option for same-day travel from Denali Park to Whittier for the independent traveler. Cruise lines may operate special charter trains on ship days, but these are generally reserved for their own cruise tour packages, not independent travelers.

Departing Whittier by Cruise Ship
Most travelers looking for one-way transportation from Denali Park to Whittier are departing on a cruise to Vancouver with Princess Cruises. The Park Connection Motorcoach is the best choice for this trip, but it is important to note that the service is only available all the way to Whittier on ships days, typically Saturdays and Mondays. If you have the time, consider an overnight in Talkeetna on the way down. It is a fantastic little town with lots to do, and it will make your day on the bus to Whittier about two hours shorter.
