Ease into your Alaska vacation with a leisurely morning, then head off on an afternoon tour aboard a classic sternwheeler. The boat paddles down the Chena River, making stops to showcase some quintessential Alaskan characters and activities. Overnight Fairbanks.

Day 3

Fairbanks to Denali National Park

Transfer to the Fairbanks Depot this morning for the first leg of your Alaska Railroad travels. The rail from Fairbanks to Denali National Park cuts a path through rolling tundra, crossing rivers and passing through patches of spindly spruce trees kept small by permafrost. As you near the Denali Depot, head onto an outdoor platform for a view of the precipitous Nenana River Canyon.

You'll float a mellower section of the Nenana River this afternoon on a mild water raft trip. Overnight Denali.

Day 4

Denali National Park

Delve deep into Denali National Park today, traveling by bus. The trip is narrated by a driver-guide with a wealth of Denali knowledge. There's a good chance you'll see wildlife along the way, plus views of iconic landscapes. Overnight Denali.

Denali National Park to Anchorage

Anchorage to Seward

Return to the Anchorage Depot early this morning for a ride along what many describe as the most scenic section of rail in the state. The route from Anchorage to Seward follows the Turnagain Arm before curving south into the Kenai Mountains.

This afternoon, visit the Alaska SeaLife Center on the coast of Resurrection Bay in downtown Seward. It's a perfect introduction to the vibrant marine ecosystem you'll travel through tomorrow. Overnight Seward.

Day 8

Seward & Kenai Fjords National Park

You'll spend the final day of your land package on the water, exploring Kenai Fjords National Park and some of its most remote fjords and tidewater glaciers.
