Trip Overview

The shortest of our popular featured travel packages, this three-day, two-night itinerary showcases the coastal town of Seward. The package balances two fully guided tours with a self-paced visit to the renowned Alaska SeaLife Center in downtown Seward. There's a little bit of free time built in to spend exploring the town or relaxing at the package's included lodge accommodations. The Seward trip caps off with an evening train ride back into Anchorage. It's a particularly picturesque time of day to travel that section of rail.

In the afternoon board the Park Connection Motorcoach bound for Seward. You'll be dropped off directly at your Seward lodging. Overnight Seward.

Enjoy the morning at your leisure, then head to the Seward Small Boat Harbor. Here you'll board a spacious tour boat for a six-hour cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park. The route passes through the wildlife-rich waters of Resurrection Bay and into Aialik Bay for stunning views of some of the park's most impressive tidewater glaciers. A hearty deli lunch is served mid-tour. Overnight Seward.

Either before or after your cruise, be sure to visit the Alaska SeaLife Center for up-close views of some of the seabirds, seals, sea lions, and other wildlife that enliven the area's fascinating marine ecosystem.

Don your hiking clothes for a two-hour guided hike to Exit Glacier. The trail is moderate, starting out flat before slowly winding to an overlook of the rapidly retreating glacier. The steep cliffs on either side of the glacier have a way of amplifying the sounds that the ice makes: Pops, cracks, and even the rush of melt water. With the day's exercise complete, you'll finish your brief but memorable trip aboard the evening train bound for Anchorage.
