With a night in Talkeetna and two in the Denali Park area, the star of this Alaskan vacation package is Denali National Park. The trip ensures travelers see and experience it in several ways, both by air on a flightseeing tour and by ground on a train or wildlife bus excursion. With time to fly into Anchorage on the morning of Day 1, head downtown to catch the mid-afternoon Park Connection Motorcoach to Talkeetna. The bus goes north along the Chugach Mountains, past Wasilla, and through dense spruce forests frequented by moose. When you check into your Talkeetna accommodations, be sure to set a "mountain wake up call." When the weather is clear, the lodge boasts superb Denali views. Overnight Talkeetna.

Dawn typically brings the best mountain weather, setting you up for a good chance to see some spectacular sights on your flightseeing tour this morning. You'll take off from the Talkeetna Airport and fly west into the heart of the Alaska Range. The landscape is otherworldly, notched by towering granite peaks and threaded with immense glaciers.

As you return to Talkeetna, take some time to stroll the town's quaint Main Street. Your train to the Denali Park area departs just after 11 AM. Overnight Denali.

You'll spend the first half of the day venturing along the only road into Denali National Park on a guided wildlife bus tour. Time in the park has a way of flying by as you spot wildlife, learn the park's history, and view everchanging landscapes. In the afternoon, see more of the Denali frontcountry on a walking tour with naturalist guide. Overnight Denali.

Spend the morning experiencing Alaska's mushing culture with a tour of the Wolf's Den Kennel, a working sled dog kennel near Denali Park. Meet sled dogs and mushers, plus puppies. It's a great way to start the day.

After the tour, transfer to the Denali Depot to catch the train heading south to Anchorage. This final leg is a scenic one, so keep your camera close by. The package concludes in Anchorage.
