Located along the Resurrection Bay shoreline, the Alaska SeaLife Center is Alaska's beloved marine education and research facility. Here, visitors take a self-guided tour of aquatic exhibits and playful interactive displays. The center highlights the region's vibrant marine ecosystem and maintains habitats for puffins, seals, sea lions, salmon, starfish, and much more. The SeaLife Center is also the only marine rescue and rehabilitation facility in the state, so lucky visitors may be able to catch a glimpse of orphaned seal or otter pups, as animal care staff work to get them healthy enough to be reintroduced into the wild.
Up close views of Alaska's best known marine animals.
The sea bird aviary and harbor seal and Stellar sea lion habitats steal the show in the SeaLife Center. The two-story environments give visitors two unique views of iconic Alaskan marine animals: One from above the water, and one from below. It's the very best way to experience the grace and speed of these captivating sea creatures, and a wonderful complement to seeing them from a distance on a Seward day cruise.
Souvenirs, books, clothing, and artwork are available in the center's well-appointed gift shop. Visitors who work up an appetite can also grab a snack, cold beverage, or Sea Lion Latte from the Haul Out Café.
With games, interactive displays, and the popular starfish touch tank, the Alaska SeaLife Center is a perfect stop for kids and adults alike. Visitors typically spend two to three hours exploring the exhibits and wildlife habitats. The center is wheelchair accessible.
