Talkeetna Dogsled Kennel tour 9:00 AM
Experience dog sledding - a unique Alaskan adventure! Just 35 miles north of the Iditarod headquarters is the sled dog capital of the world, Talkeetna. The town is at the heart of the training ground for world champion musher's and their racing teams. World Champion Sprint Musher Kathleen Holden and Iditarod top 20 Musher Jerry Sousa will introduce clients to the wonderful world of sled dogs. Tours begin with a short narrated bus trip describing the history of Talkeetna and sled dog racing. You will visit an authentic Alaskan log cabin, meet the dogs, and see a demonstration of sled harnessing and mushing preparation. Learn about the winter training program to get these dogs ready for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, held annually in March. Then jump on a custom sled on wheels for a sled dog ride on local trails through some beautiful and peaceful scenery. You will also get a chance to hold and play with the future champions, the puppies.
