In as vast a place as the Denali Park area, the landscape can only truly be experienced by air. This half-hour helicopter tour takes visitors high above the Nenana River and into an otherwise unreachable alpine world.

The tour begins at the Denali Park area's riverside heliport where guests are given a safety brief before boarding their comfortable rotor wing aircraft. The experienced pilot deftly takes off, flying the helicopter smoothly up. The Nenana River and the nearest hillsides drop away. Beautiful vistas of the national park and bordering lands come into view. There are layers upon layers of peaks and valleys and, if the weather cooperates, Denali itself on the not-so-distant horizon.

Halfway through the flight, the pilot scouts an adequate landing site and banks the helicopter in for a soft touch down on the alpine tundra. This is real Alaskan backcountry. Guests have plenty of time to take it in, from breathing the sweet mountain air, to relishing the quiet, to observing distant wildlife. The memorable tour concludes with a return flight back to the heliport.

The Helicopter Denali Tundra Express flight averages 15 minutes of flight time and 15 to 20 minutes exploring the alpine landing site. This is an ideal introductory experience for those who have never flown in a helicopter before. Weather in the Denali Park area can change quickly, so guests should prepare to be flexible as the tour adjusts to suit the conditions.

Accurate passenger weight is required for helicopter weight and balance. For safety reasons, passengers weighing more than 250 pounds will be accessed a small surcharge.
