- Denali Interpretive Hike - 5 hour
Overview
A fitting hike for active travelers, this five-hour excursion delves into the wild Denali area landscape. The trip starts with convenient pickups from local area hotels and a brief drive to the trail of choice for the day.
Ongoing narration that richens the trail experience.
The small group's naturalist hiking guide leads the way. There is much to take in, from the hardy plants that somehow thrive in this harsh alpine environment, to overlooks with big mountain views. There are big animals, too. It's not uncommon for guests to see moose in the dense brush at lower elevations and Dall sheep perched in the higher places. The guide encourages questions along the way, providing an ongoing natural history narration that only serves to richen the active experience.
After reaching a turnaround point two hours into the hike, the group returns via trail and, sometimes for fun, by bushwhacking. The tour concludes with drops back at local area hotels.
