Fairbanks offers Alaska travelers an alternative arrival point to Anchorage, one that's about 100 miles closer to Denali National Park and still served by select airlines during the summer. The small Interior Alaska city is a good jumping off point for self-drive adventures like our Alaska's Backroads & Scenic Highways package. Unlike standard rental cars, all rentals available from Fairbanks are permitted on any maintained gravel roads within Alaska.
