The tour starts with convenient pickups in the Anchorage area before heading south along the Turnagain Arm. After a couple photo stops on the way you'll turn off at Girdwood for lunch and a ride up the Mt. Alyeska tramway.

The second longer stop of the day comes just 20 more minutes down the road at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Here you'll have time to observe resident wildlife of this rehabilitation center, from moose to wolves to caribou and sometimes even bears. Not only will you have some splendid photo opportunities, you'll also learn many interesting facts about these beloved Alaskan species to entertain your fellow cruise passengers with later. Your Alaska cruise transfer concludes with a fun drive through the Whittier tunnel and a drop off at the cruise terminal.

The Anchorage to Whittier Tour & Transfer lasts about six hours with a ride up the Mt. Alyeska tram, lunch in Girdwood, and a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This small-group experience is fully narrated by a driver-guide. Transportation is by comfortable Sprinter van.

Please note, from about April 28 through May 18 this tour operates under a modified format due to seasonal closures at the Alyeska Tram.

What to Bring

Some of the tour is conducted outside, so wear layers and sturdy walking shoes. Be sure to keep your rain jacket and a hat on hand.

Special Instructions

This excursion requires a moderate level of activity, with walks to/from the Alyeska tram and at the conservation center.
