- Alaska Railroad Aurora Train Fairbanks to Anchorage (Winter)
Overview
After passengers leave the morning chill and settle into cozy cars aboard the Aurora Winter Train, the train promptly departs the Fairbanks Depot. On route to Denali National Park, the first major stop of the day, stop by the Wilderness Café for coffee or bite to eat. The cold winter views are even more enjoyable with a warm drink in hand.
A chance to savor stunning Denali views.
As the rail nears the Denali Park area, it first enters the twisty Nenana River Gorge. Take note, the views along this section make for great photos. Briefly stopping at the park depot, the train heads on again, crossing the Hurricane Gulch bridge and ice-encrusted Susitna River. The train stops again in Talkeetna. Past this quaint town, the track passes through a few more open areas that give passengers a chance to savor stunning Denali views. The trip comes to an end as the train pulls into the historic Anchorage Depot at about 8:30 PM.
